Among the many critical questions raised by the changing federal policy environment is what will become of the landmark health care reform law — the Affordable Care Act (ACA) — and the significant health coverage gains it helped make possible throughout California and across the US. President Trump and Republican leaders in Congress have vowed to repeal the ACA.

Policy Insights 2017, the California Budget & Policy Center’s annual conference on March 2, will feature a workshop designed to provide up-to-the-minute insights on the repeal effort. As part of this session, our expert panel will discuss the impact on California if the ACA were wholly or partially repealed and explore how state policymakers could choose to respond. Panelists include:

  • Farrah McDaid Ting, Health and Human Services Legislative Representative, California State Association of Counties
  • Edwin Park, Vice President for Health Policy, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities
  • Anthony E. Wright, Executive Director, Health Access California
  • Moderator: Scott Graves, Director of Research, California Budget & Policy Center

Register today to claim your spot at Policy Insights 2017. The conference also will feature timely sessions on the federal and state budget outlook, senior poverty, criminal justice, climate change, education, child development, and other topics.

Each year, Policy Insights brings together hundreds of advocates, policymakers, researchers, and other leaders to explore how we can work to broaden economic opportunity for low- and middle-income Californians. Early-bird registration ends in less than two weeks, on February 13 — so don’t miss your chance to save over 15 percent.

If you have any questions or would like any additional information on Policy Insights 2017, contact the Budget Center at (916) 444-0500 or contact@staging.calbudgetcenter.org. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Hope to see you on March 2!
